These new books will update an old school. My students are always being given leftovers, and I want them to know that they deserve the best. The work they have put in to learn a new language, and to figure out life with parents whose experiences were completely different from theirs is a challenge.
With our new books, my students will be allowed to see themselves in the literature they are reading. Not only will they see their history, and feel a sense of familiarity when reading them, they will also be able to see themselves in the future, making history, and contributing to their community.
Each book was chosen with my specific students in mind. They deserve a chance to learn to read with exciting, colorful, and new books, that challenge them to become better readers. The first step to getting them reading is to make sure they are interested in the material. Seeing these new covers, they will have a new excitement for reading and learning.
