We may not know what school will look like when we return. However, I know the students will need a space to play and just be a kid. Kids need to be active to promote healthy development. This project will help with gross motor skill development and mental health. Students can engage in cooperative play 6 feet or more apart. This will help social skills for our students.
Play is so important for development. It allows students to develop empathy, conflict resolution and much more. It will also allow a much needed break where the students can feel like kids and just have fun safely.
I would like to get paint for the concrete in our playground. We will create different games students can play with others safely. I would also like to get paint to repaint our picnic tables that are greatly in need of a fresh coat of paint.
Lastly, the paint will also go to our school spirit rock. This rock sits at the front of the school. It is used for celebrations. The students would get so excited when they arrived at school to see something new painted on spirit rock. We used this to celebrate as a school birthdays, retirement or red ribbon week.
