How is money gross? Every school year, students are introduced to research. Because students think that Google is a research tool, I focus on print resources.
The World Almanac and Book of Facts is a great resource, especially when it's current. It鈥檚 a big book, but I find fun statistics for the students. I select the list of 50 top-grossing movies from the almanac. Students find their favorite movie and they learn how much money it made or grossed. Students don鈥檛 understand why I say 鈥済ross.鈥 But when I explain that 鈥済ross鈥 is a multiple meaning word that, also, refers to an amount of money a movie earned, then, they get that money is gross.
