These books will be among those offered to my students as they select a book to read in a small book club group of about four students. Last year, I was limited to offering the books that my school library had multiple copies of, which meant many outdated titles that did not grab students' interests.
These are high-interest, relevant books that students will be motivated to read and discuss with their peers in book clubs. Students will choose their book club group members, the book they will read, and will create a reading schedule that will allow them to finish the book by the due date. Empowering students with choice in this way, and providing them with engaging books to select from, encourages student buy-in and motivation.
