Scholastic News and Science Spin will give my students access to relevant topics and events. These magazines help in covering our NGSS and Social Studies standards.
If my second grade classroom students were able to obtain the Scholastic News newspapers, they will become aware of the current events in our nation and the world. Each week, 16 students would receive their own newspaper which includes articles to read and discuss with their teacher. Articles are about citizenship, past and present presidents, safety, and so many other topics which benefit young students. The newspaper also contains math graphing activities, social studies mapping activities, and numerous kinds of reading activities. All of these activities would be worked on in class with my guidance. Scholastic News is an extension to all of my students' core curriculum subjects. After reading the newspaper and working on the activities, my students can take it home to share with their families.
With your support and generosity, my students will learn about the events that are most current in our country and the rest of the world.
