Have you been in a staff meeting with a teacher who chose to stand in the back or a college course where someone sat on the floor with their back against the wall? Do you like to read while sitting on a chair with one leg folded under you, or lying on the floor? So do some students, no matter the grade. Flexible seating encourages collaboration and communication to comfortably take place. My classroom is not that big, so I think that flexible seating will provide it with more space. Research shows that flexible seating increases student engagement. Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Please help me transform my classroom with flexible seating options for my students! More specifically, wobble chairs to allow them to be their energetic selves. My active Kindergarten students will be able to wiggle and wobble while they work to help them focus!
With gratitude,
Ms. Brennecke
