Students who read above their grade level have the best chance of going to college. I have learned that most students only read if they are completely absorbed in the book. They need to have a desire to read a book. I feel terrible not having enough Harry Potter books to keep my students going after they complete the Sorcerer's Stone.
These Harry Potter books will give my students a chance to keep reading and become engaged in a series, as I have learned they only read something when they truly engaged and curious about the book. I have had many students want to continue reading the Harry Potter series, but I do not have the books. This would help students across all classes in our school. Any kid who has a desire to read Harry Potter would know where to come for the next Harry Potter book. It doesn't matter if they were in the 3rd grade or 5th grade, my class or other. Any student who wants to read these books would have the option.
At the end of the year, I want to have a Harry Potter lunch for anyone who has completed at least 4 of the books. We could make our own wands. We would be sorted into our Hogwartz houses. Many of my students just don't have access to these wonderful books. Help me open the world to my students by giving them the gift of amazing books to read. Thank you so much for your consideration.
