My project focuses on my reading in the classroom and celebrating their diversity. Having a selection of more diverse books in the classroom will appeal to many more of my readers. They will find the characters and stories more relatable. We also talk about our Social Emotional Learning in our classroom. It has brought about many class discussions about different backgrounds and how we may handle situations differently.
Not only do we celebrate diverse backgrounds, but we celebrate diverse learning styles. I have so many different readers. A large group of my readers like to read nonfiction and historical books. Others have grown a love for chapter books and series books. Sports, Science and Math are favorite reader topics as well. Having a large selection of books will encourage growth and development in all areas of learning. My students enjoy reading in various ways around the classroom. I have found the more comfortable they are, they longer they will build their reading stamina. Building our reading stamina, grows our reading abilities and learning. My students deserve the very best!
