In my PreK class, I work with students who do not attend a formal preschool. I help prepare students to enter either a formal preschool program or kindergarten class.
One of the big things we focus on are the skills and strategies emergent readers need.
When I meet with my students, I also ask parents to join because I want them to see how they can help their child at home. I use children's books to model the skills and strategies for parents. They then get to take the books home with them to build their very own home library!
