This project will help me gain new skills as a clinician, so I can learn and implement new evidence-based approaches in teaching children a variety of social emotional learning strategies in self-regulation, executive functioning, social skills, perspective taking, and social problem-solving. These skills are critical for students as they help guide and shape their decision-making and empathy towards others in their everyday life. This 3 day conference will offer a variety of workshops that are tailored to address not only the needs of typically developing students but also students who present with social learning challenges (ASD, ADHD, behavior & communication disorders, etc.).
My students deserve to be equipped with tools that are clinically proven to impact their social emotional growth and development, and I want to ensure that the interventions and strategies I use each day in therapeutic sessions align with the best practices available. Unfortunately, the cost of attending a conference like this (even in-state) is extremely high, but hopefully with your help, this goal of mine will be much more attainable.
