My students are resource students, most of whom are struggling readers, with a love and enthusiasm for literature. They are also very active and love hands-on learning.
These students face some challenging emotional issues. Read-alouds help to engage their natural curiosities and promote literacy development. They also help students in learning to recognize and process their own feelings, as they form connections to different themes and characters.
I would love for them to have picture books to read at home and use with remote Language Arts activities. Classic children's literature and picture books will also be a great way for them to have positive experiences at home with family members as they can share in reading together.
The students are all creative and have a lot of energy. They love building and working with puzzles. Magnetic and wooden blocks would be a great way to inspire them with new ideas. These manipulative will also provide them with ab outlet and comfort in a time where their movement is somewhat restricted.
Please support this project. These students can be difficult, but they are greatly appreciative of authentic learning experiences and demonstrate immense gratitude when provided with choices of literature and positive learning resources and manipulatives.
