First Graders study life cycles and these incubators for each classroom will help students see how a chicken grows each day inside the egg. It will be exciting to see how a real live chick hatches from an egg. This project may spark their interest in farming, in raising chickens, in other life cycles or almost anything related to chickens.
Students will be able to draw pictures of what they see when an egg is candled when the chick is developing. They will be able to tell if it is growing and in what stage it is in. They will be able to see feathers in the last few days before hatching. Some students may be able to take it further and take the chicks home if they have the proper place to take care of them.
