Our students come together weekly for assembly. Many of our students are sensitive to loud noises or crowded spaces. Due to the noise level, many times students are unable to attend an assembly.
To ensure our students have access to all the activities offered to kids without disabilities, we need more noise-canceling headphones. Assembly can be overwhelming due to noise levels, the number of people together, or the pressure to sit still and meet expectations. Noise-canceling headphones allow our students to participate in activities with their peers.
We currently have about ten pairs of headphones. Most were donated by teachers and are not the best quality. Additional pairs of headphones will allow special education students to participate in the same activities as their peers. All students want to be included and feel like they are part of campus experiences.
