We have been generously gifted with funding to provide a permanent StoryWalk® in our school's courtyard. Since many of our students don't have access to books in their home, this is a great way for our school to provide access to new books frequently. During Coronavirus, it is an outdoor activity that families can use if schools are open or closed.
In addition, I want these stories to represent the families in our community and provide books our parents are proud to share with their children. Our school is only 20% Black, 70% Hispanic and only 10% white so I want to ensure that our students see versions of themselves in the books we have in our both our library and our StoryWalk® collection.
