My school has ventured into a wonderful new class, called Applied Research Methods. In large part, it focuses on developing the skills necessary for both college and career. In collaboration with Ted, I have designed a Ted Style Talk that will allow my students to apply a number of technical and soft skills. These include research skills (related to STEM), technical, as well as speaking, listening and thinking skills. My primary goal, however, is to help my students appreciate the power of their voice to effect real change, much like 16 year-old Greta Thunberg. For this reason, I would like a professional quality microphone that allows them to create a quality Ted Talk video.
