My students come to speech therapy, with a wide variety of goals. In one session, you might see us working on the articulation of speech sounds, summarizing a text passage, following multistep directions, inferencing, and practicing conversational skills with peers.
We currently have an old iPad that is about to bite the dust! The software can no longer be updated and it will not hold a charge for long. Having an iPad allows me to address my students' specific speech goals in a more efficient and effective way. I travel between 3 schools each week and the iPad is a way for me to access a wider variety of resources than would ever fit in my car otherwise!
While one student is summarizing a text, the next student can practice articulation skills, recording herself in an app and listening to the recording for better feedback. I can then take the iPad down the hall and use it as a speech-generating device for a non-verbal student. With your support, I can continue addressing the wide range of needs I see each week!
