Flexible seating allows students to make choices that fit their needs. During their independent work time, they may choose a location and seating in the classroom that works best for them. Currently, my students sit at hard chairs and desks. They enjoy working in a variety of locations in our room such as at different tables and sitting or laying on the floor with dry erase boards as clipboards. Being a first year teacher, I don't have many options for them. An essential component in motivating students to learn is making sure they are comfortable and focused. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. I would like to offer them more choices of seating besides just sitting grouped up at tables or on the carpet in our room.
My students are more engaged in their work and less disruptive when they are given choices. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to create an effective learning environment. The balance balls will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The comfy floor seats and the beanbag chair will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and can be easily used and stored in many areas of the classroom.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow more!
