After designing a new project-based learning intervention program, I discovered a serious need for reading intervention with my students. Despite their status as freshmen or sophomores, many of them have come in with a 3rd to 5th grade reading level. While I have some texts between 6-8th grade levels available on my shelf, I do not have a large number of them nor a large variety in topics and genres. This makes text choice extremely limited, and for students who have not yet discovered their love of reading, that can be detrimental.
In this project, I am looking to obtain designated intervention texts between the 3rd and 7th grade levels in order to help these students. Students will benefit from the variety and availability of these text levels because it will support their growth as they become stronger, more confident readers.
