Our classrooms have seen a significant increase in students who use communication devices. While this certainly helps the students who are essentially nonverbal, I have noticed the positive effects of communication devices for a lot of the other students in the class. Overall, most of the students have shown an increase in their participation and interactions or have even tried to speak by imitating what they hear from these devices. I believe it is a very useful teaching tool for this population; unfortunately, there's just not a whole lot of budget. This gift will definitely be helpful in giving all the students in the class more access to technology.
