My students are special education students who benefit from hands on learning experiences. Distance learning has been extremely challenging for my students and their families. Many of my students are unable to sit in front of a screen and attend to online learning activities. As a result, instruction is hindered.
The materials requested are backpacks filled with manipulatives such as counting bears, letter cards, activity books, writing books, and triangular crayons which can assist the parents in providing alternate hands-on experiences for their children.
At this time where resources of food and money are scarce, I believe these materials will supplement online instruction, but also assist families in ensuring that learning is continued in the home setting.
