The titles I selected for my classroom library will hopefully bring the reader back wanting more. That is why I choose mostly book series instead of individual books. As a teacher of third graders, it is important for them to build their reading fluency levels. The more they read, the better they read! With the pressure of the Reading Gate at the end of the year on my students, I want to give my students every chance possible to read. If they never become good readers, their chances of passing that test are low. I plan to use these books in my classroom by implementing "Flashlight Fridays" and "First-chapter Fridays". During "Flashlight Fridays", students will be aloud to get a flashlight and a place in the room to read with their flashlight. This makes reading so fun for students! During "First-chapter Fridays", I will read the first chapter of a book, and leave it up to them if they want to finish it. When I do this, it usually leaves the students wanting more! Help me give my students the amount of reading opportunities they need to succeed!
