I will be teaching about air pressure as a part of our Weather and Water unit. It's the first thing we do all year and I want to make a Compressed Air Rocket Launcher for my students. This will help them with understanding the invisible nature of air and how it can be utilized in the weather and climate around us.
By having a Compressed Air Rocket Launcher, students get to practice inquiry-based learning through the creation of many different rockets that they themselves make and test. It gives them a chance to learn for themselves what works and doesn't work. It will also teach them how to work as a team and to collaborate on projects and not just one person doing everything. This should get them out of the classroom at the beginning of the year and keep them entertained as well.
