Right now, limited access to computers and printed materials limits students worlds to what they see and hear in their everyday life. Students struggle to imagine a world outside of their neighborhood. With students reading on every grade level between early K and mid 8th grade, providing books that are interesting and meet the needs of each student is difficult without access to a school library. Tablets help students by not only creating a digital library to choose nearly any book from, but it exposes students to technology and 21st century learning and growth.
Giving students the ability to choose books on their interest and level, as well as opening up the world through technology, will revolutionize student engagement with reading and academic achievement.
I cannot wait to see students excited to be the first to choose a book and to rush into learning.
