I teach 7th grade English Language Arts in a sheltered ESOL classroom. Each of my students are English Language Learners and the majority come from low income environments. Though my students face great challenges, they are all outstanding - unique, brilliant and resilient. Each of them come from different countries, cultures and backgrounds. This one-of-a-kind combination of students has created a classroom environment like no other. I am able to teach the subject that I am most passionate about, while learning from each of them - from their culture to their quirks. However, for many of them, school is overwhelming. They are learning a new language, while learning the ELA grade-level content. Through all of this, at any point and time you can walk into my classroom and see ALL of us learning, growing and taking on each obstacle that comes our way.
