My students truly have a love for reading in my classroom. I find them constantly sneaking in reading time whenever they are given the chance. My goal with this project is to provide my students with chapter books in order to create book clubs within my classroom. We completed a whole class book study and they absolutely loved it!
During our class book study, I have found my students were more engaged and connected with the characters and events in these style of books, far beyond simply reading short passages or simple readers from our standard reading books.
I am requesting approximately 2-3 different books within each chapter book series. I am requesting different chapter books within a few high-interest chapter book series for 3rd grade. Students will meet to read their chapter books together and have discussions on what is happening within each book and character development.
My hope is that my students will then be able to share their series of books with each other. This will help to motivate others to read books within the series that are shared or even having students continue to read books in the series in which they started reading.
