My students love reading books together as a class, and having deep discussions about what we read. Clean Getaway and Front Desk are both instant classics that I want to use during reading block to help them understand our shared history and how they can make a difference in their communities. These books reflect my students’ lived experiences and seeing this representation will help them see that they are both readers and writers! Both books have complicated characters around their age and they will be instantly engaging. I plan on building lesson plans around social justice through these two books.

About my class
