There are huge benefits from cooking in the classroom with my students. I want to implement a Foodie Friday project into my classroom that will help teach my students basic life skills that they are not being exposed to in their home life. It will be implementing counting and measuring. We will discuss important skills like sequencing, engaging our five senses, help them with their confidence and their social skills. Also, research shows that kids who have hands-on experience with food tend to eat healthier
I want to instill a love of science and give all my students an equal playing field. Through these science experiments, my students will engage in lab experiences to develop problem solving skills and critical thinking skills. I want to give students an opportunity to actually physically experience some of the concepts that they are learning and hope that the learning will help with their processing the new information. Students will rely less on authority and more on their own experience.
