The books requested for this after school tutoring project will provide struggling readers on READ Act Plans with an opportunity to increase their literacy skills to reach grade level reading proficiency. These books will help students learn how to read and motivate them to read after school. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, students needing READ-Act Plans has increased exponentially. The after school tutoring program will provide a much needed way to close literacy gaps while making reading fun and relevant. Students will be able to enjoy the books while at school and more importantly, at home where they do not have access to books. Next fall and in the years to come, many students entering my school will need tutoring to reach grade level reading requirements, and I'm excited to help them become students who excel at reading.
