Students in my classroom deserve to read a book, identify with the character, and believe that they too can accomplish anything. I believe far too often classroom libraries don't accurately portray reality and don't match the diversity of the classroom population. Students deserve to relate to someone like them, see them achieve something great, and believe they can do the same. These books will provide students an opportunity to connect with literacy and explore different styles and messages. Students deserve to feel represented in all communities and a classroom library is a place to start.
