A listening center allows my students to engage with reading in another way. They love when I read stories to them so I wanted to give them more chances to listen to reading. I have a lot of books on CD, with books to match, but no way for the children to listen to them. The listening center will encourage my students to connect what they hear with the books in their hands.
My hope is that this listening center will give my students extra confidence to walk into our library and pick up other books in the series to read. This will grow their interest in reading a variety in books and help make them life-long readers.
