I plan to use these books and materials in our morning meetings to develop empathy and compassion to create a class family community. I will use the books as a read-aloud in whole group to bring up topics such as feeling new, understanding our feelings, and being a good friend. Afterward, we will create mental maps in a safe space to share our ideas and what we have learned. The books will be used for several years to understand feelings and emotions on a deeper level and how they affect others in the classroom.
