The students in my class LOVE working in groups! Not only is this beneficial to their academic learning needs, but their social-emotional needs as well. Working in groups allows students to collaborate with their peers, creating a generation of individuals who know how to express their ideas peacefully. Group work also fosters social-emotional skills such as empathy, active listening, and effective communication. Currently, the students sit in desks that are grouped together. The desks are large and groups break apart easily which becomes a distraction for the students. Having tables for students to sit and stand at will allow more space in our room for learning and help eliminate distractions.
By donating to this project, you will be helping 25 4th graders become more academically advanced and socially conscious individuals.
Along with the tables, my class would love to implement more flexible seating options. These options give students the opportunity to make good choices about their learning and learning environment. Flexible seating, such as wobble stools, also allow students to be active while they learn. This has been proven to engage their bodies and their brains! In addition to regular desk chairs, we currently have crate seats with padding to use. My students also enjoy working on the floor with clipboards and using my stool and computer chair. These options are great, but we do not have enough flexible seating options for everyone.
Your donation will make a lasting impact on the children in my class and children for many years to come!
