When outside, our young students need opportunities to move their bodies while in play. Play structures can be fun, but students need more then a static structure. A playground with many areas a student can explore offers a richer environment for play. Bikes give students practice in body coordination, peer negotiation, and self regulation skills. While using bikes at school, students learn to persist through challenges and to identify and manage their own emotions. Students work hard in the classroom. Having bikes to play on is a great reward to offer our hard working students.
