My students are a hard working bunch who have soared through the challenges of distance learning. My school has done a phenomenal job of providing equitable access to resources by allowing students to take home Chromebooks, and by connecting families with companies that are offering free wifi. However, there has been a shortage of Chromebook chargers for many students who have consistently participated in distance learning. Currently, I have a student who's charger is broken and I am working urgently with the family to try to get a replacement.
As an educator, it pains me to know that not having a charger is making a student miss valuable learning time and class meetings that fulfill their need for community. I feel a burden to always have chargers on hand so that any student can quickly resume learning.
