Discussing current events with third graders can be difficult. I feel it is important for them to understand what is going on in the world around them. They hear bits and pieces at home.
Utilizing Scholastic News magazines, students will be able to read about and discuss current events. Students will identify how they fit into the world as well as how World events affect them.
The magazines will be used in reading as well. We will identify and discuss non-fiction text features, break down complex articles, and respond to reading.
