Deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students face communications barriers on a daily basis. The skill set of knowing American Sign Language is not common. My goal is to help provide this extra support in after school tutoring program without the communication barriers. We will focus on building their everyday language, incidental learning, as well as supporting their families by providing free Sign Language classes. Our students need to have the extra exposure to language and educational concepts to not fall behind their hearing peers. That is where after school program will be able to help fill in the gaps. They need our support and the opportunities to be successful too.
