My Special Education students are often overlooked when it comes to the extras a school can provide like technology. My students work to their capabilities usually with a smile on their face. It is essential that I provide them with everything in my power to foster their independence.
By obtaining technology in the form of laptops, they can research careers they are interested, learn how to apply for jobs online and create eye catching resumes, all in the comforts of my classroom while I model the necessary steps for them. This will allow them to follow along, learn the processes and allow them to become independent on their quest for a job/career upon High School graduation. Some even gain so much confidence that they sign up for college courses!
