As a new teacher I realized a major thing that I was lacking and my students were needing. Creative play! I am fortunate enough to work at a school that believes in the power of collaborative play and the important social and emotional skills students get from this.
Every week my students work hard to earn Fun Fun Friday which is a time at the end of the day in which they get free choice. I desperately need more creative options for my students during this time.
These tools will support students in gaining important social emotional skills such as sharing, taking turns and playing collaboratively. It will also support them in self expression and dramatic play.
I have several English Language learners that my project will also benefit in developing language skills.
