I would love to give a bag of books to each of my 24 4th grade students to encourage them to keep reading at home. My students were so excited to hear they would be getting new books to read. Most of my students do not have books at home, and because of the quick school closure, many went home without books. It is difficult to get books into the hands of kids right now with libraries and schools closed.
This year my students have truly found a love for reading, and I really want to encourage students to continue to read at home during this quarantine time, and over the summer. Most of my students came into their 4th grade year reading below or well below grade level. Before the school closure, most students were reading at or above grade level. This group of students have worked so hard this year, and they continue to work hard at home. This bag of books will continue to foster their love of reading, and brighten up the end of their 4th grade year.
