During reading station work, I meet with a small group of students for differentiated reading lessons around a horseshoe table. As a new teacher, I will have leftover chairs that are meant for children 5-8 years, that break easily, and I teach 10-11 year old students.
Students need outlets for movements, but they still need to be able to maintain engagement in the material. Students rock, tip, lean, and jiggle in their seats. Students with special needs and general classroom students all need to move. These chairs would allow me to fulfill that need for all types of students.
