Kindergartners learn best and remember what they are learning the most when they are given the opportunity to practice it during play. The pocket charts stand, and manipulatives that I am requesting will allow my students to do that. I have numerous Math activities that I have made myself to compliment our curriculum. These pocket charts and manipulatives will be used by my students to do those activities.
With the new changes coming of needing to distance students and sanitize items in the classroom, these items will allow my students to still have an aspect of play WHILE they are working on the essential Math skills I am teaching.
The pocket charts will be spread around the room for them to work on card activities. Kids LOVE 100 chart mystery pictures and number sorts and matching in the pocket charts. I am new to Kindergarten, so though I can make the cards and activities, I do not have the charts yet that are needed for them, nor would I be able to purchase this many to be able to spread around the room for the distancing that may be required.
These specific Math manipulatives have been chosen because they are able to be sanitized multiple times. I am also requesting the plastic containers so that I can make 1 manipulative box for each student for the week, so they will not share germs. At the end of the week, they will be sanitized and traded to another student. This way my students can still do this independent, fun, and very beneficial Math activities, and still, be safely sanitized!
