This project will allow my EC PreK students to have a variety of learning materials that they can explore. With these materials, they will learn through their different senses (Sight, Smell, Hearing, Touch). Their social and emotional development will become stronger as they use these materials while they engage in pretend play with peers. The reading nook will give them a quiet and cozy place to not only read in a calm area of the room, but they will also be taught that they can utilize it as a ¨safe area¨ where they can come to when they are upset. The books chosen in this project are geared towards social & emotional development where they will learn about feelings and what to expect in different social situations. The toys and materials chosen for this project will enhance pretend play and are extremely durable pieces that will last for years. Overall, these materials will help my children feel eager to explore and learn each day, as well as engage in a comfortable and welcoming environment at school.
