Have you ever sat in class completely lost and too scared to ask questions for fear of being made fun of or looking stupid? This is the reality for all of my students. Being a middle school student in special education is especially difficult for children as the content gets harder, the class times are shorter and, there is more work to be completed.
The materials and resources that I have requested will hopefully allow my students to not only understand what is being taught but, have the confidence to try and understand what went wrong.
Resources such as higher level math manipulatives like: the X-Y axis dry erase board will allow for my students to complete and work on pre-algebra equations. The reading resources will give the students the opportunity to review and learn areas of literacy and writing that may not be a focus in the general education classroom such as grammar rules, vocabulary and spelling. These are key issues that my students, many of them who English is their second language, struggle with. These activities will be the perfect addition to their reading program to allow them to excel.
