Meeting students social and emotional needs are important when preparing students to grow academically. Students won’t be able to learn effectively when they’re bothered or dealing with social and emotional issues. Having opportunities to address these challenges are critical in helping students learn. Being able to serve the whole child and meet their needs in order for them to be successful is important. Counselors serve as the primary support to address the needs of students. Counselors are the link to help students understand and develop skills to use when their learning is being challenged. Helping students to take ownership of their learning and emotions will help them be successful in and out of the classroom.
