I believe that students learn best when they are moving. Wobble chairs really help children to have better focus. My students come to school ready to work every day. They put in a lot of effort and are trying to make up for some losses academically. I want to make the most of the time I have with them. I love to read to my students, and I see the benefit of choosing mentor texts to help my students understand themselves and the reading skills we are learning each week. Additional books will allow more concepts to be taught and give more choices to the students in their reading.
My students learn best when they can move, create and relate.
In addition, I am working to create a different type of atmosphere on Fridays. The students often have a lot of end of the week testing to do and can feel more stress. I want to give the students 20 minutes at the start of the day to explore with items that will allow them to create, build, and cooperate with each other. STEM items such as puzzles, building materials and art supplies will allow them to spend the first part of each Friday in a positive way.
