Yoga mats, lap desks, and exercise balls will allow my students to learn in a way that meets their needs. As active second graders, we require a lot of movement. With flexible seating, it allows my students to move around the room while remaining socially distanced. The disinfecting wipes will help us keep our materials and seating options clean and safe.
Flexible seating will increase engagement and minimize distractions. I strongly believe that choices are essential in a child's life. My students will have the opportunity to choose their seating daily - they know how they learn best. Allowing that freedom for them will enhance their willingness and desire to learn. Students will get to choose their seating on a first-come basis in hopes to decrease student tardiness and absences.
I want my students to enjoy learning like I always have. We have been pushing a lot of curriculum at them this year. We have had a lot of changes during the year - including changes to our district calendar, our schedules, and remote learning. Many of our students do not have a choice of their workspace when at home, and therefore need to have a choice in their workspace at school.
