A drawing tablet and portable whiteboard will help my students with disabilities stay engaged during live remote instruction. In my in-person classroom, I am an engaging teacher and my students are always learning in hands-on ways. My students require a lot of teacher modeling to learn new skills. When I was teaching remotely in the spring, I found that simply sharing a screen for students to look at was not enough for them to learn effectively.
A portable whiteboard to place in front of my webcam and a drawing tablet to write on the screen that the students see will make lessons more engaging and accessible for them. These tools will provide my students with real-time visual models of skills they need to succeed, including phonemic awareness activities, spelling and writing, and math problem solving.
