This classroom easel will give my learners hands-on collaboration during our learning time, and especially our writing time. Of course, we can use technology to write nowadays; however, second graders are still developing their fine motor skills to perfect their handwriting, and they need to use a pencil and paper to do this. With this easel, I will have anchor charts to write on so we can keep our work and always refer to it as we collaborate.
I was able to use an easel when I student taught, and it was one of the most exciting parts of my day! An easel will give my learners a perfect modeling experience. During interactive writing time, the learner who comes up to share the pen with their teacher is not the only one learning, all of them are learning. For example, when learners see their peer mess up a word, it is a perfect learning experience on what to do when they complete this on their own. We can talk about how to perfect letters, come up with writing ideas, and sound out words together as we write. This is the exact easel that was used during my student teaching experience, so I know I and my learners will love it.
