The books I am requesting contain units of study for elementary school. The materials address the different types of writing, reading, and math that students should learn in an integrated way. These subjects will not be taught in isolation.
These resources will not only address the needs of students in these areas, but they also provide opportunities for teachers to learn how to use rubrics, anchor charts, writing exemplars, mentor texts and different strategies to teach students how to write in different genres. The resources also provide teachers the opportunity to use different strategies and opportunities for assessment while helping struggling writers, readers and mathematicians. The most important benefit is that my students will learn that these subjects have a purpose and are not isolated subjects in school.
The donation of these resources would help improve student writing, reading and math. They would also help improve classroom behavior by implementing structure.
Students need the opportunity for genuine experiences in writing, reading and math to motivate them. These resources would help my students with authentic experiences. Through these activities, students will learn how writing, reading and math is important in everyday communication with a real purpose and how they are not isolated school subjects.
