Our school sits less than thirty minutes north of the site of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, yet many students have admitted to me that they never learned about this tragic event in their Oklahoma History class.
Students learn best when they are able to enter through the doors provided by books like ANGEL OF GREENWOOD and identify with the struggles of the protagonist.
We will cap off our study of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre with a field trip to the very place where it happened. We will visit Greenwood Rising and Reconciliation Square.
About my class
